We did not engage them much in tax advisory, which was on us. We did, however, pay a large separate fee for business and personal tax prep for three years - my previous firm had not filed and we had had some errors, so the expertise in prep was the whole reason we signed with them.
EVERYTHING was horrible. Missed deadlines, unprofessional comms, etc.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Taxes filed by deadline.

WIth several months notice, due by end of March for us b/c we needed personal taxes filed for a different reason, we initiated the process. They had multiple accountants working on our taxes, and an account manager of sorts. Each accountant came and said they can't proceed b/c they're waiting on X, from another accountant.

We regularly referenced them to each other, involved our account manager to wrangle them together, and involved escalation when on Mar 28 for nearly 2h (31 was sun, needed 2 days post), and 40 min on the 29th, we were nowhere near done and they promised me that without fail, they would have 2022 and 2023 at least done b/c we needed the last two years.

I said if they weren't, we'd have to pay to amend our filing (not IRS, the personal matter) b/c we'll miss the deadline with the requested info, and they agreed to pay the cost for us if that was the case, becuase they were certain they'd be done. Literally used the words "I promise" and I explicitly said, don't say you promise if you're not certain becuase we can't walk back our steps if you miss. They reaffirmed. I spent over three hours on phone calls with this.

Of course, the taxes weren't done by deadline. And unsurprisingly no one has ANY memory of that conversation, but that's not even the biggest issue.

Filing the amendment we knew would come, guess what else they didn't do? We did the docusign for efiling, etc.? They missed 2022. I kid you not, after all that, they didn't even file the signed return with the IRS. And when I filed a support message on the matter, I was told "you never initiated tax planning for 2022; fill out the planner and we'll get a tax preparer assigned." To which I replied with the docusigned 2022 tax return, signed by them, and by us, with the audit trail.

Their disorganization and unprofessionalism is unlike anything I've ever seen, anywhere. They have caused us unbelievable stress, gone back on their word, abjectly lied, and are STILL causing stress. The calls are recorded so I will have an avenue to fight this, but it's absolutely absurd.

The sales guy. Anything past that was awful. He DID come in after the fact and fixed issues when they "had no record" of us buying the tax prep for one of the years. So he truly was decent.

Literally all of it.
They are so disorganized, and their portal is terrible. I get emails about messages sent to other people, you have to learn "hacks" to get the site to show you things, like messages. I would not recommend this firm to my worst enemy.
