We needed to build a professional networking platform where users could do social activities, review and book events, organize meetings during the booked events, access event media, and exchange messages with other users. Additionally we needed a connected mobile app to be used during the phisical events and for social activities and messaging.

Scopic has been responsible for delivering an end-to-end solution for our project, covering both development and implementation. Their scope of work has mainly included designing the system architecture and developing the necessary custom software. Key deliverables have included a scalable backend platform to handle high-volume data processing, the user interface, the integration of AI features, and the optimisation of performance and security.

Scopic's work has resulted in increased platform engagement and event participation, improved lead generation, platform performance, and content engagement, as well as user satisfaction and positive feedback. For example, our monthly active users have increased by 40%–45%, our average session duration has improved by 55%–60%, our event registrations have grown by 20%, the partnership inquiries or B2B connections among users have increased by 30%, and our mobile traffic engagement has increased by 65%. We’ve measured these improvements in a six-month period after the latest major release.

Trophy Scan is a mobile application that enables hunters to scan, score, and share whitetail, mule deer, and elk trophies using advanced 3D scanning technology. The app offers digital scoring, competitions, and certified results directly from the field. I’m an executive at the company.

We needed support with product strategy, roadmapping, and technical development execution for the creation of the Trophy Scan iOS application.

Scopic has been responsible for product strategy, roadmapping, and technical development execution for the creation of the Trophy Scan iOS application. The team has provided regular roadmap updates, launched the iOS application they’ve built, and delivered subsequent feature enhancements. Key features include the ability to create a 3D scan of an animal with the LiDAR camera on iPhone Pro models, a social feed where hunters can see, comment, and like each other’s trophies, a competitions feature that enables hunters to compete against each other in virtual contests, and a certification flow where we have an 'in the loop' to check and validate the scoring of the trophies.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Scopic has launched the application, which we’ve coordinated with a cross-channel marketing push. Since the launch, we’ve seen positive results in terms of downloads, scans, 1-day retention, 7-day retention, and social actions like liking and sharing posts. Additionally, we’ve received overwhelmingly positive qualitative feedback from hunters and local taxidermists who have used the app.

How did Scopic perform from a project management standpoint?

Scopic has delivered on time, but they’ve cut quite a bit of the scope from the initial launch to meet the deadline, so many of the key features have come after the initial launch. We communicate via virtual meetings, emails, and messaging apps.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Scopic has the full breadth of specialists that you commonly have at your disposal in a tech company, from product marketing to UX research, design, project management, QA, engineering, and DevOps. They’re a one-stop shop that enables you to build out a full tech solution without requiring any technical experts on the client side.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I would prefer more real-time communication. Instead of a weekly meeting and emails, I’d prefer to interact in real-time over messaging (Slack) to cut down on cycle times. Additionally, it would be great to have more shared artifacts and content that both sides could easily collaborate on, like wiki pages, Jira boards, and editable Google Docs. Scopic tends to keep their documentation locked down on their side and only shares PDF outputs with the client.

Turnover is always bad with these situations I've consistently had top tier talent at different levels. Less turnover is great but quality turnover is manageable and we're doing that.
