This review is based on generalities since Sedin has had and still has multiple projects in the works for us. This has historically consisted of any mechanical engineering data and drawings.

We request constant updates of the SolidWorks files for multiple reasons including customer design reviews and our own verification of the design. The final data package contains all related SolidWorks files, all exports per our standards, any support documentation and weekly hour tally.

The only times that we have had any delivery issues was from our side, Sedin has always performed very well on that front. Early on in our relationship we learned to allow Sedin to start detailing in areas where there was little risk of changes which drastically improved the delivery of the final package. Their project management has always been very good, with exceptional communication either through emails or Teams chats between me, the project manager and the lead designers from the Sedin side.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

The most impressive part of working with Sedin that we have observed, as well as managment on both the Alpha as well as the customer side, is the turnaround on changes that have been requested. Per my direction, the Alpha lead designer is to send the Sedin project manager and lead designer an email each day with any data or changes that have been requested. Typically, Sedin is able to make these changes and able to display as well as speak to the changes in our next meeting.

Are there any areas for improvement or something Sedin Engineering could have done differently?

We have only had one project that we have had with Sedin that has had issues and is still on our floor going through changes. The sum of these changes are substantial in time and money. This is not typical of work done by Sedin in the past and I do believe that the majority of the issues stem from the lead designer leaving the company in the middle of the project which cause a lot of loss in continuity. This is not something that can be planned, especially when there appeared to not be sufficient time to do a proper handoff, but this is just speculation.
