I’m the marketing manager for Summit Hosting, a cloud-based company. We do hosting for accounting software.

We needed to generate demand, drive more eyes to our website, produce leads, and ultimately increase revenue with sales conversion. I was a one-person marketing team, and this was a huge project because we solely marketed digitally.

KlientBoost does SEO, Google and Bing ads, and PPC for us. They work on Sage and QuickBooks hosting. Those are the main product lines we sell to, so the team creates campaigns to engage with those small and medium-sized accounting businesses. They’re currently doing some tests on our Google ads and fine-tuning everything so we can get better leads and drive more business.

Additionally, they’ve done a conversion rate optimization (CRO) landing page and worked on SEO on the backend of our website. They initially did an audit of the site and gave us recommendations on what we could do better. Now, they write blog posts and do a couple of web pages for us.

Our account manager is our main point of contact. Additionally, we have 7–8 team members, including an SEO specialist, someone in charge of our CRO page, and someone writing blog posts and content.

We searched on Google and interviewed a few marketing firms. We ultimately selected KlientBoost because we liked the team they set for us. What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The CRO landing page is amazing; it looks better than our current website. KlientBoost initially set clear goals, but they’ve actually raised our lead count and exceeded their target. Our goal was to increase leads by 25%, but they achieved a 75% increase. They’ve driven more people and blown the milestone away.

How did KlientBoost perform from a project management standpoint?

We’re happy with them; they’re responsive and helpful with everything. If we’re waiting on anything, it’s usually on our end. We have an honest and open dialogue with them, and they always respond within two hours at most. They’ve also stuck to our budget, so we don’t have any complaints.

We use Asana to check what’s going on with the project every day. We also constantly communicate through email and have a Microsoft Teams or Google Meet call every two weeks to review everything.

What did you find most impressive about them?

We’ve worked with other marketing firms; they always start well, but then things get stagnant. On the other hand, KlientBoost is always looking to do better the following month and keep building success. We haven’t had another marketing agency that’s active in growing new milestones and goals every month. Overall, they take ownership and act as a partner.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, I don’t have any complaints. If we ever have something to ask them, they immediately work on it.

Be transparent about your goals and expectations; open communication is the key. If they know exactly what you’re trying to achieve, they’ll outdo it.

We searched online for a vendor and KlientBoost came well recommended for a company with a strong e-commerce first background. After speaking to their team, they understood our issue about "being stuck" at our current marketing level and needing to stick to our ROAS to advance to the next stage.

The first step of the project was a complete audit of our website, facebook account, instagram account and google. They then provided Google Optimize test recommendations for the website to go alongside the PPC/Social Marketing they would do. They restructured our Facebook/Instagram Campaigns and built a new funnel. They did the same to Google, eventually moving the whole account to Performance Max. Throughout the year we continued to create new test campaigns with new audiences and creatives for optimizations.

We worked with a growth strategist, account manager, CRO designer, and senior account manager. We spoke to our account manager daily via slack and had bi-weekly meetings.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The largest success metric of the program was the change to Google Performance Max Campaigns. Performance Max let us scale by setting several conversion goals and ranking their importance. Our target CPA's went down and we saw a 25% higher ROAS than with smart shopping. We also were able to identify new audiences to use to increase brand awareness and build out the funnel. Another successful element was the CRO optimization on our collection pages. We saw a 50% lift on one collection page when we changed the banner per their recommendations.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The workflow was very easy. KlientBoost team builds out an extensive Asana that is a breeze to follow. The team is also always accesible via Slack and Asana. They will also connect with our partners you work with to figure out how to make the most out of all partnerships. For example not only did they recommend our Feed Management partner, but they managed that relationship.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

The account management team. We had two lead account managers during our time with KlientBoost and both were phenomenal. They were excellent communicators and always brought great strategies to the table.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

The only area for improvement would perhaps be an advertising content calendar recommendations in advance. For example: Here are top back-to-school ads that we know work for others in your lane, we recommend we do similar ones. I think it would be great to be a little more structured in that way, to make ad planning easier for the client.

Since starting our paid social ads on Facebook and Instagram we had a stable increase in the Return on Ad Spend (ROAS) with a decreasing CPIs and CPAs which was our goal.

They’ve been great at managing our expectations and meeting deadlines. We mostly used email to communicate and it was smooth and quick way to discuss next steps, creatives, etc. We have a biweekly meeting for more important updates and reports.

Their knowledge within the industry stood out. They were proactive and wanted our opinion and approval where needed so that everything goes smoothly.

Prior to utilizing Klientboost, we didn't have any strategy behind PPC efforts. They were random and often unchoreographed. Since Klientboost joined, we have seen a steady stream of leads coming in on a weekly basis, and in our most recent quarter, they exceeded our goal for leads and CPA giving us more leads for a smaller cost than we thought possible.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

We have biweekly meetings that are an excellent time to catch up in real-time and go over the leads that have come in in that period. We also talk regularly through email and they are always available if I have questions or concerns, often replying within less than an hour of when I've messaged them.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Their dedication to consistently optimizing our PPC efforts is second-to-none. They have provided me with peace of mind where I can step back and trust that they are using their expertise and are truly dedicated to our success.

I had worked with KlientBoost at a past company. We still took the first few calls, went through the standard vendor evaluation, and decided we wanted to make the investment in a partner that could help us move quickly.

I was the direct POC. I worked most with the account manager and paid search specialist, as well as with their design team.

More and more of our meetings are now sourced from CPC, which is fantastic to see. As we start to see our volume increase, it's important for us to ensure that the leads coming in through the door are of the right quality.

We use Slack to communicate and their turnaround time is typically a few hours (often less). We have an ongoing Asana project that keeps track of all deadlines, owners, files, etc. and this is very clearcut compared to how we've worked with other vendors.

Their overall knowledge of CPC for B2B companies and strategies is what drew us to them in the first place.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

I'd love more support on the design side, but I realize the KB's design team supports multiple teams.

I found them through Clutch and another rating site. I used them because it’s a good way to find good vendors.

We spent about $30,000 on fees, and they spent an additional $40,000 on Google Ads.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together from January–May 2022. We’re now in the process of moving away from them; we’ll transition over the next 1–2 weeks.

How did your relationship with the vendor evolve?

In the beginning, they told us to trust them because they were the experts. The challenge began when we started looking into the work they were doing. For example, we spent $6,000 a month on their fees and $10,000 in ad spend. It turned out that they hadn't set up the tracking in the first 30 days that they were running our landing pages. Therefore, they couldn’t see what was happening with traffic. It took them about two months and a half to find out they weren’t collecting data. The fact that no one caught it earlier and they weren’t managing this correctly was a huge red flag.

The second challenge was trying to contact the right people at the KlientBoost. When we asked them for specific information, they just told us everything was fine. We couldn’t get information, so that was another red flag.

Also, they’d promised us that they’d launch a new landing page every month or so. However, the only landing page they did for us was very generic. A good rule of thumb is putting the keyword you want to advertise on the landing page, but it turned out that ours didn’t have the keywords anywhere in there.

Every time we asked them to see the results, they’d only tell us to trust them because they were the experts. However, when the time came and we got through the data, they didn’t have justified decisions, which wasn’t what we expected.

How did KlientBoost address the challenges that arose?

We tried to talk to the managers because we had high hopes, but they asked us to give them proof. The problem was that they’d grown rapidly, so they widened the people on their teams with inexperienced people. Therefore, the management was having trouble, and when we tried to bring these concerns up, they ignored the mistakes made. They’d said they’d fix them, so we tried going after them for another month, but they didn’t deliver on those promises.

Describe the impact this engagement has had on your business.

We had a horrible experience with them. We knew the engagement was a calculated risk. We thought that we’d spend $100,000 for 5–6 months, and it’d be essentially an experiment. Even if the experiment wasn’t successful, we’d still come out of it with a lot of data. However, it turned out they weren’t even collecting the data. This mismanagement was a pretty basic thing, and when we asked for accountability, they didn’t deliver.

How was project management handled?

Project management was pretty poor. The manager was new, so they gave generic answers anytime we asked them for specific data. 

Is there anything that the vendor did well or that you would consider a strength?

We initially did research and talked to many people during that process. The people at the top of the funnel who answered our questions and the salespeople were brilliant. They were probably the best part of the organization.

However, the quality went down from the moment we got on board. The team didn’t have experience.

In what specific areas can they improve?

They have to work on internal coordination; they don’t talk within their team. Our problem could’ve been easily averted if the last person who headed the campaign had spoken to the person who asked us for the data. They might be doing well on their own, but they don’t talk among themselves.

What advice do you have for clients with similar needs to yours?

Firstly, make sure you get every single thing documented in writing. There were 6–7 things that they verbally told us they’d do, but then they said we needed proof. Also, we allowed flexibility, but you need to watch them like a hawk. We ran into problems because we trusted when they said they were experts, so you need to verify that the team is knowledgeable. KlientBoost was charging us for expert-level services, but the people on our team had less than three-months experience.

While we put an end date on this project, they are still working with us. This platform had no selection for "still going."

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

Our Google Paid Ads went up to a ROAS of 4. We thought that was awesome. They've had improvements in other areas as well and helping use with CRO with the website.

Project management is good. They use Asana with the team and client so we're all on the same page. We also do Google Meet using video every two weeks.

I liked their approach and receptiveness to feedback and willingness to make changes.

We had an issue with our first project manager. I felt she was too conservative in her approach. She was focused 100% on ROAS whereas I wanted to grow sales with new customers and was willing to have a lower ROAS in exchange for that. She didn't seem to want to hear that, I brought the issue to Management, they swapped out PM's instantly and our new one is following our goals and still maintaining the ROAS.

There was no drama. They stepped up quick and apologized.

I'm the Head of Performance for an advanced robotics, strength resistance fit-tech company. The product is a platform with a single cable that generates 10-200lbs of resistance and allows the user to quantify strength training.

We needed data to learn from and wanted to primarily see if consumers would buy this if we started pushing. We started with a budget of $20,000/month for three months. We soon realized that our core customers were coming from an institutional and professional space and not the general public.

We ultimately decided to pursue B2B relationships and sales, but wanted to remain present on social media and dropped the budget to a steady $5,000/month for Instagram only. This is where we currently are now in the process

We met with several specialists and KB were the ones that seemed most confident and able to handle paid media that focused on cash prize tournaments. They helped us test and troubleshoot until we found solutions that worked, including constantly optimizing and improving our strategies, LPs, copy and graphics.

The outcomes have been highly favorable for us and more importantly, when expectations deviate from what we thought they would be, KlientBoost is quick to adapt and reevaluate the situation to get us back on track.

We have a niche product with an unusual blocker that not many people have expertise in with regards to paid media. KB quickly tackles our needs and constantly works to find new and innovative solutions to the ever-changing landscape of both paid media and gaming & esports.
