We where scaling our PPC lead generation campaigns, so we hired Klientboost in order to increase lead volume while optimizing our unit economics.

We selected Klientboost after reviewing several PPC agency proposals. It all came down to the fact that Klientboost offered top level creative design with their PPC management services, for a reasonable price point.

We started out re-structuring our paid search campaigns on Google and Bing. As new campaigns where created under Klientboost's recommended structure, we continuously optimized key metrics. Klientboost assigned one PPC account manager, one PPC lead supervising the PPC management process, one conversion designer, and one CRO lead overseeing the design process.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

While working with Klientboost, we consistently hit our KPI targets. Specifically, lead volume and cost per leads targets where achieved. Additionally, their design team delivered great quality landing pages and creatives on time.

Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timelines.

With Klientboost, every month we would set volume and cost targets, but we would organize tasks on a weekly basis, so every week, on a 30-60 minute call, we would quickly review the prior week's KPIs, and then plan our next steps for the following week. Communication was mainly through email and skype. Our account manager was generally open to hoping into an un-scheduled call, in case plans changed in between weekly calls.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

The Klientboost team was very professional. Communication with them was never a problem, as their emails were always very well structured, clear, and on time. However what we appreciated the most as a company, where their creative design inputs. Their design team is very strong, they brought new ideas to the table and implemented them very quickly.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Paid search performance was strong with Klientboost, but we had our hopes up with the Google Display Network as well, and unfortunately, we never quite cracked this channel throughout our relationship.

I worked for a garage door repair and installation company in the Minneapolis/St. Paul metro. I was the sole, full-time marketing person for the company and my job was to get leads for their services.

How did you select KlientBoost?

KB teaches everything they do, so I had know about them and utilized their tactics for well over a year on my own. When it came time to focus on other areas of the marketing, I wanted to turn the PPC over to an agency and KB was the obvious choice.

Full PPC management, including strategy, ad creation, bid setting, location targeting, ad scheduling, etc... We allowed them to change or manipulate anything they thought would be helpful.

The second part of their job was to create and optimize the landing pages that were used for the PPC clicks. Again, they had full control to do whatever they wanted to the landing pages as long as they thought it would help achieve a lower Cost Per Lead over the long run.

What was the team composition?

I had one main point of contact who I had calls/emails with on a regular basis to discuss progress and strategy. This was the same person that was actually doing the PPC management and (I believe) overseeing the CRO of the landing pages.

I also know that he had access to an entire group of other experts at KB who could help him if needed and they all met once a week to discuss, as a group, any accounts that needed extra attention.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The conversion rate of the landing pages they created went from 9-12% to over 20%. They cut Cost Per Lead in half. We already had a pretty low CPL, compared to the industry average, so their performance was excellent.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Communication was excellent across the board. Phone and email were enough to facilitate the relationship, but occasionally did a screen share so that we would both be looking at the same thing and there would be no confusion.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

KlientBoost gives all their secrets away. They have excellent blogs and teaching material that shows how they do what they do, so marketers like myself can help our own clients.

Are there any areas for improvement?

Honestly, none come to mind right now.

I was the Franchise Development Marketing Manager at Mathnasium Learning Centers. I was responsible to demand generation and inbound new prospective franchisee leads.

We hired KlientBoost to develop and execute a paid search strategy and Facebook marketing strategy. We needed their help to generate leads for our available domestic territories and international master franchise opportunities.

What were your goals for this project?

Our goals were to deliver 2,000+ leads per month and close 75 deals per month.

How did you select KlientBoost?

We did a series of interviews with 5 different digital marketing agencies. We met with them all several times and ultimately selected KlientBoost because we were impressed by their deeper level of insight into paid search, their unique SKAG method of building paid search terms and the team's personable and mature demeanor.

We were looking for true experts in paid search that had a significant amount of experience handling large budgets and results to back up their ability to spend budgets. The Vice President of Marketing, myself, our CEO, the General Counsel and our COO were all involved in the decision-making process.

Describe the scope of their work in detail.

The scope was to develop a paid search and paid social strategy leveraging a budget of approximately $600K per month to deliver leads. They built and executed our paid search plan on Bing and Google including, but not limited to, setting up our keywords, monitoring performance, building landing pages, A/B testing landing pages, testing SKAGs, paid search text testing.

Additionally, they managed our paid social strategy for Facebook including the optimization of ads, ad copy, ad creative, landing pages, syncing with Salesforce and reporting of insights.

They were also responsible for reporting to us bi-weekly and on a monthly cadence as well to summarize overall results. My role in the project was to manage the agency, double-check their work, report back to our CEO and VP of Marketing and provide feedback and direction to Klientboost.

One particular campaign objective was to generate 2,000 leads per month in the specific geographic locations (zip codes) that were identified as open territories. Not only did Klientboost meet this expectation, they blew it out of the water.

Our CEO was very impressed by the month-over-month growth in leads and the lead quality was reported as higher than before we brought KB on. Additionally, we had another project that was much more challenging.

We need to set up paid search campaigns in 50 international countries. Klientboost successfully set up these campaigns in other languages with the support of Google's team and helped us with all translation and education around the differences of these international markets.

The team included a Senior Account Manager, an Account Manager, a Social Strategist, two designers, the CEO and the Head of Sales. The size of the team stayed the same over the course of the partnership.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We were tasked with generating 2,000 leads per month and not only did we meet that expectation, but we also exceeded it. Additionally, we saw an increase in the number of closed deals and our sales team was very happy to have an influx of leads in the specific geographic territories they were looking for those leads to be from.

The results of the engagement exceeded our initial expectations. We did not think we'd find such a committed partner and we felt prepared for our internal meetings with the CEO with their help.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The workflow was effective between our team and theirs. We used Asana to manage our communications and keep projects organized. The team at Klientboost was very good with constructive criticism.

The only thing I would say they could work on is double-checking work before sending it over, however when I would tell the team about an issue, they would be quick to resolve it.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

I was impressed by how young and ambitious the entire team was. They all seem genuinely happy to work at Klientboost and have a team camaraderie that is to be emulated. Additionally, their insights, educational materials and willingness to spend time teaching us was incredibly valuable.

Are there any areas for improvement?

As mentioned above, I think the only thing I would say is double-checking work with a fine-tooth comb before submitting it to the client and listening to what was asked of them. However, once I shared what I was looking for or the errors, they were quick to make changes and eager to please.

KlientBoost would help us build and optimize three landing pages for our high-performing resources across our product mix, along with ad creative to accompany the pages.

We would drive traffic to these pages through our paid search and paid social programs. During the course of the contract, the KlientBoost team will review performance and make recommendations for adjustments to the landing pages, the ads, or for general reporting on performance.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

When running CRO experiments, the expectation is to learn if a certain hypotheses is true or false, whether a change can impact conversions one way or another. There's always a takeaway and it might not always be a metric.

For example, in one of the variants we ran, we noticed that performance of our branded keywords tanked even though they did well for us historically. Sometimes, it's a new angle we can try in overall strategy.

Even when a change causes no change, we know that the change wasn't significant enough. There is always progress as long as we're making adjustments. Micro changes over time can lead to macro impact.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

We did most of our communication via Slack which was nice from an "immediate response" standpoint. The rest was done via weekly status calls. KlientBoost did give us access to their project management tool for our project specifically which allows for transparency.

In general, the work moved pretty smoothly and we didn't experience any "misses" in communication even with the various tools.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

They were always willing to provide recommendations even outside of their scope, which I always value in a partner. There was zero grumbling when we were nitpicky about revisions as well.

Are there any areas for improvement?

There were small lag periods for work being delivered on time but ultimately we were happy with the end result.

They dive in and look at our nuances and see where we can spend our money more effectively. They also help with SEO, checking if we’re optimized properly.

I work with five main people, including their CEO and top salesperson. We also have an account manager, a social account representative, and a client services representative.

We found them organically searching on the web. I read reviews on Clutch and was very impressed. I invited them to submit a request for a proposal. They competed against five other teams and we were really impressed.

How much have you invested with them?

We spend $20,000 a month as a retainer for them.

What is the status of this engagement?

We began in September 2020, and the relationship is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

They built dashboards for us so that we can monitor the ongoing progress of the work. The results speak for themselves. We’ve had close to a 100% increase in our conversion rates since they came aboard. Our cost per lead has dropped significantly too, close to 40%.

How did KlientBoost perform from a project management standpoint?

They do a stellar job at checking in and communicating. Their account managers are on the ball. Whenever I ask for something, I get it back right away. They’re incredibly responsive.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They take a very innovative approach; it isn’t a prescriptive approach. They take the time to understand their clients, their needs and apply their expertise to deliver great results. They’re transparent, honest, and data-driven. They get results.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They should be more adamant about their suggestions. We have a large team, and we’re opinionated. They should push their opinions more even if we disagree, because they’re the experts.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Don’t be overly prescriptive. Let them do their thing, you need to build a regimen of trust. Trust them.

I am a Senior Account Executive at Google. My job is to work with top advertisers to help them make the most of Google Ads products.

Google partnered with Klientboost to support USCCA, a leading advertiser that invested heavily in Google Ads.

What were your goals for this project?

Our goals were to drive lead generation for USCCA. We were using advertising to acquire new users, and then managing a marketing funnel to convert these users to paid members of USCCA. Our primary goal was to grow USCCA as much as possible while remaining profitable.

SOLUTION

How did you select KlientBoost?

KlientBoost had been working with USCCA before my time on this project. But KlientBoost proved an incredibly valuable asset as an advisor and digital marketing agency.

Klientboost was able to significantly grow USCCA's membership, while maintaining profitability.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

USCCA was a great partner, we would join weekly strategy calls, decide on new products and new initiatives that could help scale the USCCA business. Klientboost would expertly implement many of these programs on a week-by-week basis. They were very quick to act on any decision.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

KlientBoost has built a culture of testing and learning, which keeps their approach to marketing innovative. Jonathan and his team are always the first to test new products, and they evaluate each test in a structured and data driven way that leads to client outcomes.

In out case, KlientBoost was the first major agency to test lead generation formats on YouTube. They pioneered many best practices that later scaled across the advertising world.

None, I truly thought they were top tier marketers.

The team is usually composed of Johnathan Dane, with whom I use to have the editorial brief (approving suggested topics, selection of the angles, and so on), and his team of writers.

Once the content is delivered we usually go together through at least two rounds of edits and the selection of the best illustrations (that are not just "cute" but actually integrate the concepts expressed in the article). Each step is carefully executed and all my suggestion implemented.

We hired client boost to manage our PPC campaigns. Which this year (2020) has turned out to be crucial. We had to pretty much such off all forms of advertising as we needed to cut expense. We did determine it was import to keep some Ad spend. It turns out that was the right decision because even with our limited Ad spend, we were still able to land some large contracts as a result.

KlientBoost set up with everything we needed. We had a dedicated account manager that helped facilitate all communications. They were able to coordinate designers as needed for landing page optimization. Our account manager changed once of the project, but it didn't impact the project.

Yes. As I mentioned earlier, we had to cut Ad spend this year due Covid. However, even with the limited Ad spend, we were still able to produce results that more than justified the spend. We have since bumped our budget back up.

I found the workflow to work really well. Primarily, they have been really response. Having a dedicated account manager is great. It is so much better than dealing with a random customer service again.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

KlientBoost brand definitely jumps to mind. For the first time interacting with their web page, through meeting the team, they definitely give off the vibe that they know what they are doing.

Dedicated account manager and dedicated designer. Behind the scenes, they have a person that oversees all experiments across their clients and helps prioritize future tests. They also have directors who help with strategy and execution.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Quite a bit yea. They’ve worked with 3-4 B2B SaaS companies that I currently advise for and while there are always some things to work out, they’ve continued to deliver and go above and beyond. Goals get hit on time or sooner. They also help educate the internal marketing teams which is a big plus.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Very simple. They actually give you access to their project management tool so you can see all activity and winning/losing experiments while also seeing which futures testing ideas are in the pipeline.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

They walk the walk. What they say and what they do are the same thing. It also seems like they run their agency as if it was a software startup. They move quickly, are scrappy, and creative. They hustle like champs :)

Are there any areas for improvement?

I’ve known them and worked with them for so long that this question doesn’t have an answer. I’ll tell you that in the early days there were some things to improve, but they’ve improved a lot over the years and obviously the sky is the limit!

Introduce your business and what you do there.

Citron Hennessey Therapy is a mental health therapy practice with over 30 employees. We’ve moved into the online space and are operating as a boutique startup. I’m the CTO of the company.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with KlientBoost?

We wanted more traffic to the website. We’ve recently revamped it, and we were trying to move away from other booking platforms in mental health or healthcare in general. There are some bigger players that we’d have to go through, and we wanted to form our own online presence.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We hired KlientBoost to take care of the Google Ads side of marketing. We began with conversations on what exactly we were looking for. The goal was to increase traffic and have more clients book online through our website, so that we wouldn’t have to give half our revenue to someone procuring the lead, which is what a lot of the booking platforms on the market do.

KlientBoost did keyword research for us, looking at what competitors were doing. They tried to either challenge or find unused relevant words within Google Ads, which we could focus our energy into. They targeted specific areas based on what we advised them.

KlientBoost developed a way for us to track where people were going and ending up on the site, and who the most popular therapists were. We created a system for managing this data, which hadn’t existed before. It wasn’t necessarily beyond their scope, but they were helpful in places where they didn’t have to be, providing information that wasn’t really in their remit.

It would’ve been very expensive to build a custom booking software, and we’re at the mercy of HIPAA laws. There are many things that we can’t do, that normal companies can, whether it’s marketing or where we store data. The provider has to sign a BAA and has to be certified up to a certain level in terms of security. We’re currently using Acuity Scheduling.

What is the team composition?

Matt (Senior Growth Strategist) was our first contact and the person who pitched to us. The person I’m dealing with on a weekly basis is Kimball (Account Manager). We catch up, talk strategy, and make sure we’re still heading on the right track.

Every three months, Graham (Team Director) checks in with me to have a conversation and see how everything’s going. He asks if there’s anything more they could do, and where they failed and succeeded. They’re feedback junkies and love to be told what is and isn’t working.

I get regular emails from Kim (VP of Client Services), with surveys on how we’re doing and what’s going on. It’s the first time I’ve had a company actively seek out to learn what our experience is.

How did you come to work with KlientBoost?

I’m a research junkie, so I went through every reputable review site and anecdotal blogs to see which names come up over and over. I used Clutch and other general review sites found on Google. The choice was between KlientBoost and two other companies, and I sent an email to all three. Nobody got back to me except for KlientBoost.

Matt was great at laying down what they do and how they conduct themselves. KlientBoost made it clear early on that they’re all about transparency and clarity, which is something we didn’t have with a lot of other companies we’d worked with previously. Our two founders aren’t the most tech-savvy people, but Matt provided them information in a digestible way. KlientBoost gave us an honest assessment of where we were and what it would take to get to where we wanted.

I also hired an SEO agency through Clutch, which was voted best boutique agency of 2018–2019. They help with the organic traffic.

How much have you invested with them?

Not including our Google Ads budget, the cost of their work so far is around $14,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with KlientBoost in May 2020, and it’s ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The biggest goal for our work with KlientBoost is increasing website traffic, and it’s gotten better month by month.

Success for us was a client seeing an ad, going to the website, booking an appointment, and confirming it. Once someone books, we need to call them, get their insurance information, and quote them. We look at who actually confirms and walks into the office or takes a Zoom call, and we measure the CPA of a client based on that.

We’ve essentially created a system made from various different HIPAA-compliant cloud software, and we’re interconnecting everything to work as we need it to. We’ve gotten more confirmed appointments through Google Ads every month, and that was essentially all we were looking for.

How did KlientBoost perform from a project management standpoint?

The overall communication is excellent. In terms of project management, I like to micromanage in the beginning, so that everyone knows what we want, and then trust the people we’ve hired to know what they’re doing. I leave them to it and check in every now and again.

There haven’t really been hard deadlines, other than listing what we’re looking for and aiming to improve month over month. KlientBoost is doing keyword research and A/B testing, and they do everything they say they will, before we’ll have our next conversation. As long as I see an upward trend on how things are progressing, I trust that what they’re doing is working.

What did you find most impressive about them?

We love KlientBoost’s constant attention in making sure we’re taken care of in the way we want to be. We’re not fitting into their system. They look at how they can cater it to us, and how they can work with us to make the experience better. That constant request for feedback could get annoying for some companies, but, as a small-to-medium business, we love that kind of attention, and we feel we’re getting value for money when we see it.

Some companies want us to trust them, and it is what it is. KlientBoost wants us to trust them, but they’ll explain things from the very basic to as advanced as we want, and they’re always there for any questions we have.

Are there any areas they could improve?

One suggestion I gave them, which they said was the exact opposite of what most clients want, was to rotate account managers or people, so that we could get a different perspective every now and again. I like to get lots of different opinions, as long as we’re moving in the same direction.

They could also meet up and discuss clients with each other, but I don’t know how feasible that is during COVID.

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

Clients should be honest and open in what they want, and have KlientBoost determine if it’s possible.
